A CENTURY-OLD RESIDENT OF BALTA SUPPORTS THE AFU
Kateryna Borisovna Zheltova is over a hundred years old! During her long life, the woman has experienced a lot, her difficult life path is full of trials.
Kateryna Borisovna remembers the famine of 1932-33, when she was only 8 years old. From an early age, she started working to help her parents in some way. And at the age of 18, the girl went to the front, went through the Second World War.
Kateryna Borisovna Zheltova is over a hundred years old! During her long life, the woman has experienced a lot, remembers the famine and went through the Second World War.
After the Second World War, Kateryna Borisovna got married, lived in Germany with her husband, a military man, for 3 years. Then they lived in Nikolaev and Odessa, and finally ended up in the city of Balta, Odessa region, where her husband went into the reserves. She worked at a sewing factory, gave birth to a son and a daughter.
“Now I dream of the war ending,” Kateryna Borysivna shared with us. From her small pension, the woman tries to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, gives 200 UAH for nets, buys fruits and vegetables for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The team of the NGO “Culture of Democracy” decided to support Kateryna Borysivna within the framework of the “Caring Hearts” project, which is aimed at helping people of respectable age who receive food and hygiene kits.
The “Caring Hearts” project is implemented by the NGO “Culture of Democracy” thanks to the financial support of the international organization Church World Service (CWS) and technical assistance from the Regional Development Agency of Odessa Region.
