\nAccording to trainer Olena Rotari, today the identification of victims of war-related sexual violence is already actively underway. Among the victims are civilians, prisoners of war and prisoners of war. However, as the trainer notes, the myth that sexual violence is limited only to rape remains widespread in Ukrainian society. In fact, there are a number of types of sexual violence, and sometimes a person does not even realize that he or she is a victim.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an extremely painful topic for all Ukrainian women and men, because many have already suffered from war crimes committed by the Russian occupiers,\u201d says Olena Rotari. She emphasized that even now many people are afraid to admit that they have become victims.<\/p>\n

The training took place within the framework of the program \u201cStanding Together: Improving the Support System for Victims of War-Related Sexual Violence\u201d in partnership with the Ukrainian Women\u2019s Fund, the NGO \u201cLa Strada-Ukraine\u201d and the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine \u201cYurFem\u201d with the support of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Office of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko and with funding from the European Union.
